Cookie policy

This lists every cookie and every piece of browser storage the site uses, what each is for and how long it lasts. Nothing that is not strictly necessary is set before you agree to it.

   Cookies we need to set

   These two make the site work. They cannot be switched off without breaking it, and they are not used to track you:

   • A session cookie, set when you sign in, which is how the site knows it is you. It lasts 14 days, cannot be read by scripts, and is removed when you sign out or delete your account.
   • A language cookie, which remembers whether you are reading in English or Russian. It lasts until you close the browser.

2. 02

   Things kept in your browser

   Two things are stored in your browser rather than as cookies. Neither is sent to us:

   • Your answer to the cookie question, so you are not asked again on every page.
   • Your sign-in state, kept by Google's sign-in library so that reloading the page does not sign you out.

3. 03

   Analytics, only if you agree

   We use Google Analytics to see which pages people read and which parts of the site go unused. Until you accept, it is told not to store anything on your device, and it counts visits without any identifier that would recognise you again.

   If you accept, it sets two cookies that last two years and let us see returning visits. We never send it your name, your email or your date of birth.

   We do not use advertising cookies, and the advertising features of Google Analytics are switched off.

4. 04

   Cookies set by things we embed

   Some pages embed services that set their own cookies inside their own frames. We cannot read those, and they are covered by the privacy notice of whoever set them:

   • The scheduling page, when you book a consultation. It asks you about its own cookies itself.
   • The video player, which remembers where you stopped watching so you can pick it up again on the same device.
   • The payment pages, which are hosted by Stripe on its own domain and use cookies for security and fraud prevention.

5. 05

   Changing your mind

   You can change your answer at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer of every page. It brings the question back so you can answer it again, and takes effect immediately.

   You can also delete cookies and block them in your browser's settings. If you block the strictly necessary ones, signing in will stop working.
